Polly James Blind Embossed Business Cards
We worked with designer Sophie Jackson Studios to create business cards with a combination of a blind emboss and crisp letterpress print for artist Polly James.
A blind emboss on Colorplan Mist card stock creates a sophisticated and tactile business card. The process involves pressing a design into the card without ink, resulting in raised text or logo that enhances visual appeal.
Print Production Notes
The paper is pressed under high pressure between a 2-part male and female embossing die. When pressure is applied, the paper is forced upwards into the contours of the female die, forming the raised "POLLY JAMES" on the card.
While the front displays the raised logo, the back usually reveals the corresponding impression made by the male half of the die. This would interfere with any overlapping print. However, we have refined our embossing technique to eliminate the impression and bruising on the back of the cards.
